My Projects

Here I outline some of my in house projects that I am trying to accomplish. A detailed account can be viewed from the Links in the Stats section to the left. I tend to use these projects as a practical learning tool within a technology focused field. A problem I have is that I lack the time to implement alot of the ideas that my mind generates. This leaves numerous projects in different stages of completion litter my room. Eventually they all move into their respective jobs and then I get another idea.

The largest and probably my most ambitious project to date is the "Rack Mount Project". I was able to occur a large rack mounting cabinet that sits in the corner of the cavern. The aim is to convert most of my computers from atx towers to rack mounted PC's. This invlolves the design of custom made rack mounted trays that will allow me to slide the pc's out when ever I wish to do any work on them. Plans, photos, designs, etc can be found in the detailed section of the project.

The HTPC project is my Home Theatre PC project. This is an attempt to consolidate my home entertainment into one centralised unit. The final product will be a small form factor PC that looks slightly larger than a DVD player. The advantage is that it will play DVD's, Music (Audio and Digital), and any media accessible through the LAN. Much more convienent then changing the CD player, losing the DVD remote, or trying to decide which setting is needed for which device on the DDS 5.1 Sound system.
